LOGICS Lab @HKUST

The LOGICS Lab (“势界”实验室), led by Dr. Weilai Yu in the Department of Chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), investigates how molecular interactions and spatial organization at reactive interfaces govern the performance of energy and chemical systems. The Chinese name “势界” evokes both electrochemical potential and the interfacial boundaries central to our research.

We integrate fundamental electrochemistry, surface and interfacial science, advanced characterization, functional materials design, automation, and data-driven experimentation to establish predictive principles for sustainable energy storage and chemical conversion.

Our research spans reactive battery interphases, electrocatalytic molecular manufacturing, solar-driven chemical conversion, and AI-accelerated autonomous experimentation. We welcome applications from prospective PhD students and postdoctoral researchers interested in these and related areas.
